The Fiddle Drill, a charming café located on Main Street in Goodmanham, Market Weighton, has garnered a delightful array of reviews from patrons attentively exploring its offerings. Situated in a picturesque village, it serves as a perfect pit stop for coffee lovers and food enthusiasts alike. Customers often commend the diverse menu that caters to varied tastes, with Gary Hoolsema noting its “delicious and varied” food choices, making it an ideal spot for both a morning coffee and a satisfying lunch.
Accessibility is another highlight, as Angelika Seneld points out the easy ramp access for pushchairs, allowing families to enjoy their culinary experience without hassle. The warm ambiance, especially during colder weather, adds to the comfort, as Craig Johnson mentions while praising the festive sandwiches alongside their cozy drinks. The seasonal offerings, including the much-loved mince pie, enhance the café's appeal, making it a welcoming retreat after a long day of exploration.
However, not all reviews are without critique. Longtime visitor Rachel Vincent voices her concerns over recent menu changes, reflecting a shift towards more upscale dishes. This evolution may divide loyal patrons who cherished simpler fare such as sandwiches and paninis. Reviews for The Fiddle Drill
Review highlights
Based on 335 reviewsThe Fiddle Drill is praised for its charming, cozy atmosphere and friendly, accommodating staff, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors exploring the Yorkshire countryside. Customers appreciate the varied and tasty food offerings, including a notable festive menu and well-regarded coffee and cakes. Accessibility features such as ramps are also highlighted positively. However, some feedback points to a shift toward a more upscale menu, with mixed reactions to the new offerings and pricing. Noise levels in the space have been mentioned as a minor drawback, but overall, The Fiddle Drill is valued as a welcoming and convenient cafe for relaxation and refreshment after a walk or drive.
Nice little cafe in the small village good for a drive on a beautiful day. Food was delicious and varied. The space was a bit noisy. Came for a morning coffee and stayed for lunch.
Really good. There is a ramp so can easily access with pushchair. Very accommodating staff and good all round place.
We visited The Fiddle drill today after winning a competition earlier this month. We've never been before so was looking forward to trying the food and drinks. The staff were very welcoming and the deli was cosy and warm, this was perfect as the weather was extremely windy and cold outside. We ordered from the christmas menu which gave us plenty of choice. We found the perfect festive sandwich to accompany our coffees. The food was beautiful and the drinks we're steaming hot, a little drop of Baileys in our festive coffee certainly warmed us both up. We finished the visit with a cheeky takeaway mince pie, this was delicious . The food was tasty and very filling. Thank you so for accomodating us today we really enjoyed our visit. We will be back again soon.
Found this place on my first visit to Yorkshire. Delightful/quaint place. A welcome respite after a long day's walk! Excellent coffee, sticky toffee cake was to die for. Also tried out their cocktail, mimosa, but weak but nice. A great place to meet up, relax and eat after exploring the countryside. Didn't try any food but menu looked good. saw other ppl enjoying food .
Have been visiting the Fiddle Drill regularly for 10 years, a lovley handy cafe after a walk round the Wolds. They have recently changed the menu, having taken eggs on toast off and replaced them with eggs benedict etc all have hollandaise sauce horrible stuff and charge £12. They seem to be going down the more upmarket route rather than keeping it normal fayre, like it used to be - normal sandwiches & panini's - such a shame. Coffee has also gone up yet again at nearly £4 for a small cup.
The Fiddle Drill is an absolute gem of a place, popular with walkers, cyclists and locals. It’s open Wednesday to Sunday and has always been pretty busy no matter what day we have visited. I like it because it’s an excellent stop off for refreshments and the loo when walking a circular route down the Hudson Way from Market Weighton end to Goodmanham and then through the village and back onto the Hudson Way. It’s also very popular with cyclists and has cycle racks etc visible from inside. If you are planning to have lunch it’s probably a good idea to book a table. There is a comprehensive menu and a great selection of cakes and pastries, including gluten free, on display at the counter. Lots of different seating options, including picnic tables outside, and plenty of room between tables etc Disabled access plus ramp down to the toilet facilities. Highly recommended!
Good coffee, great cakes, great service. Popped in whilst on a family bike ride through the village. Lovely little cafe, presented well and had really friendly staff. Coffee was good, and the cakes were really nice. We'll certainly be back
Nice cafe just off the Wolds Way, open Wednesday to Sunday from 10.00 - 16.00. A good range of hot and cold meals, snacks and cakes plus hot drinks and soft drinks. Indoor and outside seating with table service from friendly, helpful staff.
